Wednesdays and Fridays are now home to Latin music and salsa dancing in the Marigny.
Fredy Omar, considered by most to be ‘the’ latin dance band in town, has made a home at Cafe Brasil is enjoying increasing crowds each and every week. This past week, the dance floor remained back well past 1:00 AM.

Georgette Alcocer & Troy Anthony of Latin Motions in New Orleans are known for creating “Creole Style Salsa” (an even mix of L.A./N.Y. Style w/ a Cuban presence).
They have performed & taught at many events around the Globe. Georgette & Troy are equally adept in leading & following On1 & On2. They utilize that ability of lead & follow in their teaching structure. In June 2003 the Discovery Channel aired an episode of this duo in teaching action. The couple has accompanied several major Latin acts on stage in addition to several movie & video features. Troy is a 2004 West Coast Congress honoree (dancer/promoter). This couple has Six Reality Style instructional dvds & are always a big hit at all their workshops. “Possibly the most fun couple in Salsa.”

On Saturday, August 27, 2005, The New Orleans Hispanic Heritage Foundation will host its fifteenth annual fundraiser “The Azucar Ball”. Again, this year, the “Azucar Ball” will be celebrated with a theme--- “Sueños Caribeño—Caribbean Dreams”.
