Casting call for area swing/lindy hop dancers

The new Brad Pitt movie, "The Curious Case of Benjamin Buttons" is looking for 10 dance pairs (or 20 dancers that can be broken into dance pairs) that are between the ages of 18-35. Thaty have experience in 40's style of dance including swing and Lindy Hop as well as underground and Modern dance. Anyone who has dance experience and is a quick study is welcome to audition.

The format will be the same as in years past. Events include; the Thursday night Pub-Strut, Friday and Saturday main and after hours dancing, a screening of the Michael Murphy critically acclaimed movie, "Make it Funky", the Krewe du Vieux Parade, lindy in the park, Sunday night at Rock and Bowl and the Bourbon Street Blow-Out. ... Festivities have already begun with a Chicago-based collection of new unwrapped toys. On Thursday, December 15th, Southwest Airlines will donate a jet to fly a veritable Santa’s sleigh-load of toys from Chicago/Midway to a jubilant celebration slated for the following night at The Jefferson Orleans North’s Ballroom. Some of New Orleans favorite musicians are set to headline, including singer/songwriter Susan Cowsill, The Uptown Plowboys and The Pat Barberot Orchestra, a 13-piece “big band”.

D-Day Museum, Saturday August 13th with Rocky's Hot Fox Trot Orchestra playing from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. A Pacific Luau for The National D-Day Museum's Countdown to Victory Signature Event Series presents "Island Treasures & Tropical Pleasures: A VJ Day (unconditional surrender of Japanese forces) Celebration". In the spirit of peace and victory, join America’s National World War II Museum on a journey to the islands for a Pacific Luau. THE HANGAR, the Museum's hottest new venue, will be transformed into a Pacific island paradise complete with skewered snacks and cold beverages with island flair. A 1940s swing band will provide the dance music for the evening. Period dress, Hawaiian shirts and floral dresses are encouraged.
