New Orleans: Succor, Incorporated, a New Orleans based not-for-profit organization will produce a series of seminars and special events on health and education initiatives. The goal is to increase the awareness of issues that can improve the quality of life for the individual, the family and the community; children in grades K-12 are particularly targeted. The program is also an opportunity to promote dance as a viable fitness activity for the entire family. The workshop/demonstrations will be held on Wednesday, May 18th at the Tekrema Center for Art and Culture, 2601 Tulane Avenue 5 pm  8 pm and Saturday, May 21st at the Neighborhood Civic and Art Center, 1520 N. Claiborne Avenue 10
am  4:30 pm.

Succor, Incorporated, has solicited influential professionals in the health, education and dance arena to be apart of its 1st Annual Fit and Fabulous, Rhythms, Steps and Strides Dance Health and Education Seminar.

Presenters includes: Larry Cager, community activist, health industry consultant speaking on obesity and parenting; Gabou Mendy, M.D., Internist, HIV Specialist will address teens and HIV.

Dance and fitness professionals Greer Goff Mendy of the Tekrema Center, Janet Andrews Rhythm Tap specialist and NORD/Ballet Association Tap teacher and Mariama Curry, founder and artistic director of the NKafu and the Culu Children African Dance Company will conduct each conduct a demonstration of their dance styles and answer questions from the audience, participation is encouraged. Lifeguard and swimming expert Nathaniel Franklin will discuss safe swimming techniques for kids during the summer and tips on how to loose weight through swimming. Health fair, presentations and demonstration times/location follow:

7:30 special Dance Premiere: Greer Goff Mendy and her group will unveil a work from their upcoming trip to Dakar, Senagals Kaay Fecc International Dance Festival where she has been invited to perform and teach.
